Yet A Little While
Psalms 37
KJV
10+ For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.
There is no permanency in life, everything is in transition This reminds me of inscriptions we read embossed on some trotro wooden vehicles that were the public means of transportation in Accra in the sixties and seventies
One such inscription reads “ Friends today, enemies tomorrow’”. As a primary school pupil, these writings served as reading exercises as we learn to read. There were many such inscriptions; as they were the fashion of the time, owners used their vehicles to express their thoughts, feelings and sentiments.
But truly speaking nothing is permanent in life not even relationships. Some we forget as we move on in life and our associations change; others we break as goals, interests, values and aspirations change. The worst of which is when a friend becomes an enemy.
It is important to note that what unites us as friends is our shared interests, goals, values, principles etc Whenever there is a shift or change in any of these we part company. This definition of friendship is what the prophet Amos gave
Amos 3
KJV
3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
Though this can be heartbreaking and a source of worry, we take consolation in what Solomon once said regarding the non-permanency of everything. Hence to be forewarned is to be forearmed; read it ;
Ecclesiastes 3:8
NIV
[8] a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
All that is needed is for one to be prepared for any such situation, this way one can move on in life. Who you call a friend today can become your enemy tomorrow. Remain true and be committed to what is right!
Yes, yet a little while it shall come to pass. A word to the wise is enough!
