Why I Feel Uncomfortable: A Confession*!
Ezekiel 33
KJV
6+ But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
I don’t know about you; I must admit the above scriptures make me feel “uncomfortable” any time I read them. I guess you know why; in case you don’t please read how Jesus explained it in ordinary words ;
Luke 12
KJV
47+ And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
I guess you now get the reason why I feel “uncomfortable”! In case you think you are exempt, then please read this ;
48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be **beaten with few stripes**.
So, you should also feel “uncomfortable” when you read these scriptures. Ignorance, you’ve heard lawyers say, is no excuse. Just that your punishment shall be less than that of those who knew but did not keep it.
But in my case , here is why I said I feel “ uncomfortable “ “
Luke 12
KJV
48(b)
For unto **whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required**: and to **whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.**
I must admit, much has been “given “ to me so, much would be expected! We've all received from God gifts, just that they are in degrees; some had more others less!
What Ezekiel was told is the same Jesus told his disciples, negligence, cowardice, inability to call a spade a spade with regard to spiritual things; thus warning people of dangers will not be accepted by God.
Some shall indeed be “excused”, but not those “enlightened” who knew what should be but looked on unconcerned! For example;
Who sees a car coming dangerously towards a person from behind and refuses to scream a warning?
Who sees a fallen electric cable in the path of some school children and walks past them without telling them or preventing them from going that way?
Who sees someone pouring poison into the drink of a friend and sits unconcerned without warning /stopping the friend from taking the drink?
Who sees a friend's purse being removed by a pickpocket, and keeps quiet because it is not his/hers?
You’ll tell me “Oh, I’ll definitely act “ but it may surprise you how many have looked on unconcerned! To be honest, you’ve seen or come across one or two of the above scenarios but turned a blind eye!
Yes, this is the world we live in!
If the word of God is true, ( which it is ) then we are all especially those of us who know what is right are in danger of losing our place in heaven if we fail to give heed to what Jesus ( and Ezekiel) said !
Beloved, making things worse is what James added; read it
James 4
KJV
17+ Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
It is for these reasons that I feel very “ uncomfortable “ when I am tempted to keep my mouth shut. Because I know I’ll receive the severest punishment! I don’t know about you!
In a society where it is a “crime” to speak or tell the truth, may we take note of what lies ahead of us when we meet our judge.
Those who speak the truth indeed have few friends, but what use is it if you’ll suffer a greater loss in heaven by being untruthful just because you want to be loved by the many here?
I agree with the hymn writer when he said “Take the world but give me Jesus !” May we learn not to play to the gallery just for the sake of short-term fame!
Beloved, use these few words of admonishment to guide your actions. Warn and or sound the alarm bells whenever it is needed and necessary regardless of the cost.
My open confessions.
