**Why Do Wrongdoers Win Support**?
Exodus 23
KJV
2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:
I’ve always noticed that wrongdoers win the hearts of many, while those resisting wrongs are hooted at and condemned.
An incident just occurred at the Community Six traffic-light intersection, which reminded me of the above scriptures
On reaching the intersection, the lights turned red so I stopped , I was en route towards the Baptist Church C5 direction; ordinarily, cars towards that direction do drive on ignoring the sign to stop
Not long after, other vehicles joined from behind and started hooting at me to go through the red light because they were turning in that direction I refused to move since it was a red light.
Hell broke loose; horns were blaring simply because I had blocked them. I didn’t budge; I stood still. With the noise and honking going on, I alighted, walked to the vehicle behind, and asked the driver if he saw the red light.
I reminded him of the need to obey the rules most especially since today marks the implementation of the new traffic rules! You don’t know where the police camera is located.
Though he understood, as soon as l moved away he was encouraged by those around as they hooted; the more so he began questioning and challenging me!
You see what I meant by wrongdoers winning the support of the disobedient?
My friends, do not let anyone push you into breaking the law; the new traffic rules will not spare you. We are used to traffic indiscipline, so when you try to obey the rules there will be people who will oppose you!
Note this! Until a police officer waves you on do not move; even then, note it down in a manner you can produce as evidence because the camera may or may not record the officer waving you on. You’ll be fined if it didn’t record that directive.
As the scripture says
Exodus 23:2
NIV
“Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong.—-“
Many will fall victim to the new traffic check because they’ll be pushed into disobeying the rules.
Please if it is red it is red; turning/taking the other way because you are not driving straight on will not exempt you. The red or stop light is not only for those driving straight on, but it is for all cars from your direction.
It is not going to be easy for the law-abiding drivers as the indisciplined ones will hoot at you. But stand your ground else you’ll receive fines and tickets. If you have money to spend then “follow the multitude to do the wrong thing”.
Incidentally and surprisingly the vehicle that followed me from behind was from the church where I went to worship. I don’t know if he will recognise me.
Well, as a leader I must show by example not only in the church building but also outside the building what it means to be a disciplined, law-abiding citizen!
Our profession as Christian’s should not be limited to what we do as worship in the church building on Sundays.
If the country makes any positive progress, then believers must take the lead by demonstrating what it means to be law-abiding.
My encounter this afternoon,
