When We Have Served.
Acts 13
KJV
36+ For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep, and was laid unto his fathers, and saw corruption:
There is a truth that is hidden in these words of the Apostle, that is “ after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell on sleep”.
Every man came with an assignment and when it has been discharged he then is discharged from duty. This is what Paul meant by these words. God commissions and decommissions!
Each of us has a generation to serve this is what is meant by the statement “ every man has his time, and every time has its man!” This statement is confirmed when we study history.
Abraham had his time when he was called out of Mesopotamia to lay the foundation of what was to be a shift to from polytheism to monotheism!
Moses was called to serve his generation as a liberator and a lawgiver. The list continues to this day.
Pre-independent Africa has a list of men who served their generation by leading their countries into independence after which they faded out.
Everyone has a task, an assignment be it large or small, significant or insignificant etc until he/she has performed it he/she shall not be recalled. It is for this reason that you are alive till this day
A Gardener does not pluck from his garden any flower that has not blossomed and given out its fragrance! It is after it has that it is plucked. So it is with God, He will not call us until we have served our generation!
If you want to know why you are still alive and kicking then here is the why! When you are done, you’ll sleep with your forbears as David did. .
There is therefore work for you to do, pray and ask for guidance, strength and wisdom.
