When At The Crossroad, Panic Not!

By John Tamakloe

When At The Crossroad, Panic Not!

Genesis 22

KJV

6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.

7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?

8+ And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

Some have asked, did Abraham lie to Isaac or did he know God would not let him down? Was he by this answer to Isaac expressing his absolute trust, confidence and faith in God? I leave you to answer for yourself.

Abraham was at the crossroads, the promised child had been born and not long he was asked to offer him as a sacrifice! It was a moment of mental agony and torment! But Abraham did not waver. Why?

Let us cross-examine him, what compelling evidence did he have hence he did what he did? What stands out is faith. But what is faith?

Hebrews 11

KJV

1+ Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

From this definition, we know that faith is not blind but is based on “ evidence “! But what evidence does Abraham have? To cut a long story short, he has walked with God since he left his hometown; and has experienced the hand of God in many ways so he knew the God he was dealing with!

He left his fate in the hands of God! Beloved, there comes a time in life when all you can do is to leave everything in the hands of God. At the crossroads in Gethsemane Jesus left his fate in the hands of God when he said

Luke 22

KJV

42+ Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

There comes a time when humanely speaking you’ve exhausted every known answer, avenue, solution etc but still things remain the same. Like Abraham, like Jesus resign your will to God.

Like Abraham you’ve also walked with God for many years now, you’ve known at least how in your darkest hours He brought you “salvation” from nowhere. Trust Him to do it again.

Abraham knew what God could do, hence the answer he gave to Isaac.

Genesis 22:8 NIV

[8] Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” And the two of them went on together.

When you come to the crossroads, do not panic commit the situation or circumstance to God. Stand still and watch, you’ll see the hand of God moving to restore calm to your restless mind!

Isaiah 26

KJV

3+ Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

As I write I am at a crossroad, I’ve done all that is possible but the situation remains unchanged I’ve decided to let go so God take control. Human reasoning has a limit, where it ends that’s where faith starts.

Yes, even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we shall fear no evil! Greater is He who is in us than who is outside. By faith,  we like Abraham shall overcome to His glory. Panic not.
