What Is It That Will Outlive Us?

Acts 10

KJV

38+ How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

I’ve had the opportunity and privilege to preach the funerals of many people and at all these events I hear read the things that are known about them, this is their legacy! I’ve never heard a tribute that mentioned what the deceased had , houses, cars, clothing , the good food he/she enjoyed. His bank account was not even mentioned

Interestingly, all that was said are not things the deceased did for themselves, not their houses, cars, possessions of any kind but rather what they did for people! Testimonies!

Beloved our legacies ( what will be remembered) are not what we have or made of ourselves but what we did and made of others!

Yes, it is not what we have but what we did for others! The investments we made in people be it in the economic, material, spiritual etc sphere.

The scripture verse above captures what was the legacy of Jesus in one short sentence  “ he went about doing good “!

Today is dedicated to Dr Kwame Nkrumah, his legacy is being celebrated there is not a single mention of anything he possessed, but rather what he did for Ghana.

May we strive to leave a legacy by investing, promoting etc; not ourselves but others.

I have always been touched by the tributes I’ve heard read at funerals! What impact have you made? Or did you live for yourself and no one else?

A cup of cold water given to a thirsty man makes more meaning and impacts his life

A plate of food served to a hungry destitute person makes a lasting impact!

A few coins given to help a destitute buy a piece of cloth to cover her nakedness, leaves a lasting legacy

Think of what you can do to impact others thus leaving a legacy. It’s a choice.

Thoughts to share.
