What I Feared Most In Life: A Personal Confession!

Genesis 4

KJV

8+ And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.

I don’t know about you, but any time I read this incident it makes me fear humans! That a brother from the same womb can slay his brother?

In life, we all have our fears no one is exempt! There are many things that we fear but on a list of fears some are topmost. Not all put fears in us to the same degree.

Among the many things I fear in life this is one of the topmost, a brother literally killing a brother !! What makes it difficult for me to understand is the fact that in the case of these two, God stepped in, to reconcile them. And Yet!

God spoke in private with Cain yet Cain did what he had planned to do -to kill his brother. Not even God’s intervention could stop him.

Here is where I fear humans, there are some of Cain’s great great, grandchildren living among us today. You may have seen them just that you did not recognize whose grandchildren they are.

By their fruits you’ll know them. These are those who harbour grudges, ill feelings, etc,  and have planned to take revenge at the least opportune time they get.

Not even preachings, teachings, pleadings etc not even time can stop them just like how God’s intervention could not stop Cain.

Cain killed Abel probably with a club, hoe, Stone etc. an object but his grandchildren of today do it with the tongue. Which is more dangerous than using an object. Dangerous because you can not see it coming!

Abel likely saw the object Cain used just that he could not avoid it! In our case, the tongue is hidden, enclosed and covered by the teeth. All you see is the teeth that are bared and pretend to be smiling!

I am sure Abel while dying may have uttered a few words. Words such as “ o my brother !”  O what have l done? O why do this to me?

Are we not brothers?

Yes, the same we also say to his great great grandchildren today who slay us with their tongues! Just as Cain was driven by envy so are they today. Envy knows no appeasement. It burns like wildfire

If there is any person or group I feared most in life it is Cain’s ancestors. His “spiritual assassination squad “has terrorized and continues to To do so to many!

We solicit your prayers that God should grant us the strength and wisdom to live and endure the bruises and hurts inflicted on us. We are knocked down but not knocked out!

This is my fear in life, not poverty not hunger, but the unconscious stabbing in the back by a brother/sister! Just like Cain did!

My fear I confess!
