What A World: Ingratitude!
Exodus 1
KJV
8+ Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph

How sad and painful it is to be treated unfairly by someone you’ve once helped. This is how Israel felt when a new pharaoh took office, as the above scriptures reveal.

Another generation of Egyptians overnight forgot all that Joseph did to save Egypt from severe famine and death! As a result, they forced a once-freed people into slavery.  Read it

Exodus 1:8-9,11
NIV
[8] Then a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt. [9] “Look,” he said to his people, “the Israelites have become far too numerous for us.

[11] So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh.

Is this not what we are seeing unfold in SA? A country that many sacrificed to help liberate is now asking those who helped them to leave the country.

It’s human nature , how many people have you not helped and how have they treated you when they are able to stand on their feet?

Several Twi proverbs describe such scenarios!

👇

“When a man is wet, his cry is different, and when he is dry different his cry. ! When a person is hungry, his cry is different, and when he is fed different the cry. When an animal is caught in a trap, different  its cry, if set free different the cry “

Many are living with pain in their hearts because of the treatments they’ve received from people they once sacrificed to save. In like manner, countries that once helped SA are in pain over the treatment their citizens are receiving at the hands of SA’s.

So soon SA has forgotten where they came from and how they got to where they are today. Incidentally some of those who went round the world seeking and got help are around; these should have told them their history.

Unfortunately, they are quiet, yes that is how it has always been. People you helped when they were able to stand on their feet soon forget and join hands those who hate and think evil of you  to spite you.

This is a betrayal of the highest order, a betrayal of social trust which unfortunately is difficult to restore!

In life we are all indebted to someone, It was through someone that we got to where we are today. To turn against that someone or act in ways that show disregard and disrespect is a betrayal of trust.

We need to heed the warning of the proverb writer 👇

Proverbs 17
KJV
13+ Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

As the saying goes “Those who drink from a Well they never dug should not forget those who dug it “   Never forget those who stood by you in Times of adversity!

Kaunda, Nyerere, Samora Machel, Mugabe, and Dos Santos ; leaders of the frontline states that hosted the ANC freedom fighters would be turning in their graves! Pan-Africanism has suffered a major setback!
