“ If your neighbour’s beard is on fire, fetch and keep water by your side “ is a popular proverb we know.
What does it mean in real practical ways?
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East may appear to be far from Ghana in geographical terms but not so when it comes to our tables at home.
For this reason, I offer you the following guidelines to help you take charge and ensure that there is always food on your table.
(1) Depending on the size of your family buy and stock adequate rice to last you for a month.
When you buy something, don’t use it; instead, buy and use what is currently on the market.
The reason is that what is on the market will soon dry up, and there will be a shortage; prices will go up due to scarcity. When that time comes what you bought and Kept will serve your family while you wait for the politicians!
(2) do the same to Garri, beans, oil etc any edible item that has a long life span
(3) If you use a car do not let the fuel gauge indicator fall below the half tank line! Yes it may be expensive now but it will pay off in the time of scarcity and rationing which will soon unfold
Do not believe in the assurances by the political actors , think for yourself. Your destiny and that of your family lie in your hands and not theirs, so take steps that will guarantee their safety.
(3) If you use gas ( LPG) to cook, get a standby already filled bottle. Alternatively for a support system get a single or double-burner electric stove as a standby.
(4) Reduce outings by planning. Identify and set priorities regarding where to go with your car, and walk if it is within range. This is not the time to show off , it’s the time to exemplify wisdom.
(5) Monitor the usage of every perishable item in the house, stock up more in the fridge or freezer.
Carefree use of items must be prohibited, food on the stove must not be left to boil beyond the limit with no one attending it.
Lights that are not needed must be turned off and not left on. The same goes for TVs; if no one is watching there is no need to keep it on.
There will be a long queue at the vendors as many unwise people do not know or practice what you are reading so they will waste what they have. (You can join then if you like )
I am sure you’ve heard Paul say “Perilous times shall come?” Yes, perilous times are here with us! As a result of the war in the Middle East.
God said this;
Psalms 91
KJV
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
How this promise comes to pass in your lifetime is what you’ve just read. You’ll be enlightened and told what to do this is what you’ve read.
You can take it or leave it!
