26+ For among my people are found wicked men: they lie in wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.
Is it not strange to read that among God’s people and in no other place than in His house can be found wicked men?
Oh, how true this statement is. After many years of walking with and among professing believers one can not help but to agree with this statement!
Yes, the Holy Spirit is true when He said “ among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men”
Yes, there are “ wicked “ men among us! They walk in disguise, smile and laugh with us but in their hearts and minds are wicked plans and plots! Many have fallen victim to them because they trusted and credited them with genuineness and sincerity!
But what can turn a once genuine person to a wicked one, you may ask! The answer is simple, selfishness, jealousy and envy! . Cain turned against his own brother Abel, and Saul turned against David all because of selfishness, envy and jealousy.
Why is it not me, but him? Why is he doing well, and better than me? Why is his name a household name and mentioned everywhere and not mine? Why is he honoured and not me?
A wicked person suffers from a “Me” disease! And it is this that makes them dangerous to befriend.
Every wicked man is a self-centred person! It is either him or nobody. Interestingly such people don’t know who they are, selfishness is woven into their genes, and they see it as normal.
What makes it absurd is the fact that they profess to be disciples of a selfless person, Jesus.
My life’s experiences among some professing believers confirm what the writer said; sad but true! I wish I had given serious thought to this very early in my life
