This I Observed

1 Corinthians 6:12

NIV

"I have the right to do anything," you say-but not everything is beneficial. "I have the right to do anything"-but I will not be mastered by anything.

If you’ll notice, anytime a death is announced the first question asked is “ was he/she sick?” Why is this asked and not “ how did he/she die?“.

It is an acceptable truth that sickness hastens death, though it is unavoidable; we can take steps to minimise its attack and impact hence weakening its effect thus postponing death. It would be better to die of “ natural “ causes than “ sickness!”

Beloved the choice is ours, though it is easier said than done every man’s destiny lies in his/her hand. No one can force or compel you to do whatever it takes to weaken or neutralise the attack of diseases.

Mosquito bites lead to malaria, mosquito nets are available for use ; no one will force you to buy and use them; it’s a personal choice.

A daily walk as an exercise is highly recommended as it helps overcome several challenges that open us up to sickness. Nobody is going to wake you up to go walk it’s a personal choice or decision.

Eating at unhygienic places is a source of sicknesses, this everyone knows, to avoid such places or not is a personal choice or decision. No one is going to stand at such places to ward you off!

What this means is to avoid sicknesses thus minimising its effects on life, hence “ postponing “ death through it; we must be self-disciplined! Self-mastery, which unfortunately is not easy to attain it requires a conscious effort.

So, we have the key to “postpone” death through self-discipline.

1 Corinthians 10:23

NIV

"I have the right to do anything," you say-but not everything is beneficial. "I have the right to do anything"-but not everything is constructive.
