5+ Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:
I’ve known and taught the central message of this verse to many audiences, that it is how Solomon subtly described how our lives come to an end. His comments have to do with old age. If in doubt find time to study and observe older people
Indeed, as a young person, I observed and heard from older people what they see and how they feel about life, which agrees perfectly with what Solomon wrote thousands of years ago
As older people transition they experience changes that most people do take for granted, especially their outlook, concerns etc and health.
Spend time reading the entire chapter so you appreciate the truth Solomon intends to convey! Read my experience!
I was at a party where the majority had their plates filled but mine was almost empty!
At the same party, many danced to the tune and song being played merrily but I sat still with disinterest with only a smile on my face!
Many who observed me felt I was odd and disconnected.
Yes, they are right, I did not belong to that generation just as Solomon said. They were fashionable but I wasn’t. Each looked for affirmation and approval I didn’t and wasn’t interested.
People spoke “ diplomatically “ because they don’t want to hurt the feelings of anybody, knowing very well that what they are saying is not true!
When it was my turn I said what everyone knew to be true but was avoided! Interestingly, my speech carried the day and received the loudest applause!
After the party, the majority stayed and chatted while I sat in my car and drove away!
I was there for a purpose and once that was accomplished I moved on! I moved on because I, just like many have very limited time compared to theirs! Yes.
The takeaway lesson is this, know how limited your time is so spend what you have wisely! Know which generation and class you belong to and act wisely.
Else you’ll live to regret at the last hour or moment.
