The Trumpet Sound: An End Time View
Joel 2
KJV
1+ Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
The scriptures use trumpets for several purposes, such as rallying people for war, coronating a king, summoning worshipers, etc.
Of note is the distinction of the sound that the trumpet makes. Not all sounds are the same, to understand what a sound means, one must be trained.
The second coming of the Lord we are told shall be preceded by the sound of a trumpet.
But before then it appears there will first be a trumpet sound which all those who hear will be resurrected and be transformed
1 Corinthians 15
KJV
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52+ In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
In the case of the Lord’s descent here is how the event is described;
1 Thessalonians 4
KJV
16+ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
It lists two occurrences; these are “with a shout” a shout is not a sound made by a trumpet but by a human (?) “ with the voice of the archangel “ it seems this is the person who will do the “shouting”, then follows the sound “ and with the trump of God “
The “shout” is likely to be made by the archangel, the trump of God will then blow a message both of which the “ dead in Christ “ shall hear and rise.
What will be said by way of the shouting we are not told. The type of sound the trumpet will make we are also not told; these are mysteries!
I would like to believe that both the shout and the sound the trumpet will make will be understood by the Spirit in every believer. It will be a communication between the spirits, the Holy Spirit and that which He gave us! I am sure you know you have the spirit in you!
1 John 3
KJV
24+ And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
When these will take place has been the subject of debate and contention among many. A careful look seems to suggest that these events will take place simultaneously, first the shout summoning the “ dead in Christ “ to rise after which follows the rest, “the living in Christ(?)”
This is because we the living shall not “ precede” the dead in Christ. We shall have to wait for them to rise first before we join them.
1 Thessalonians 4:15
NIV
[15] According to the Lord's word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
It is important to note that time will cease to be reckoned so there is nothing like Day or night, twenty-four hours etc. Because time will cease to operate as we know it these events will therefore follow sequentially. It will not be time-based.
These are my opinions regarding the end-time events as I read them! They are not doctrine but opinions. You may have your own!
The Redeemed of the Earth shall be summoned by a “shout” by an archangel and a “sound” from a trumpet both of which shall be heard and understood only by those who have the Holy Spirit in them, believers.
Remember anyone who does not have the spirit of Christ in him does not belong to Him;
Romans 8
KJV
9+ But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
The end-time communication will be a spiritual communication between spirits. To make it easier for the spirit we are marked (sealed) by God for identification purposes.
Read it,
Ephesians 1
KJV
13+ In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Also, remember that at baptism you received the Holy Spirit as a Gift;
Acts 2:38
NIV
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
All said and done, what is important is to remain true and faithful in Christ, and leave the rest to God.
