The Question of Transition
Job 14
KJV
14+ If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.
“Till my change come”, is how the writer described his transition. I was filing past the body of my late sister who was laid in state at the palace of Togbui Nyah’s-Tamakloe ( Whuti) last Saturday!
At a point I stopped to bow and take my final look at her, suddenly this verse took hold of my mind!
Job 14:14 NIV
[14] If someone dies, will they live again? All the days of my hard service I will wait for my renewal to come.
Life after death was both a thought and a question that occupied the minds of the ancients, they all looked with anticipation and uncertainty to what follows hereafter.
Thankfully, the generation after the Cross knows the answer!
1 Thessalonians 4
KJV
14+ For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16+ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17+ Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
These words are enough to settle the question “ if a man die, will he live again ?”
Behold we shall live again, we shall see each other again though not in this form or shape, but we shall surely see each other. This mortal body we have shall be changed into a spiritual one!
With this assurance may we” dry our tears” instead live lives that will grant and guarantee us access to this eternal home where we never die.
