The Painful Nature Of Social Relationships
Matthew 26
KJV
23+ And he answered and said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.
Ive just returned home from a worship service and the verse above was read out by the officiator at the Lord’s Table and it got me rethinking!
Beloved, nothing is more painful than being betrayed by someone who walks with you, smiles with you, sits with you at programs you attend, etc, only to discover that inwardly, they are something else.
Judas as the treasurer of the “Yeshua Evangelistic Ministry” is one person Mc will introduce at any gathering where Jesus preached. As the group’s treasurer, He always sits close to Jesus. Yet he was the very person who betrayed Him.
On rereading and meditating on this very verse I paused to reflect on the numerous challenges that have come my way in life , it was then that it dawned on me that the saying “ a man’s enemy shall be those of his own household “ is true!
Matthew 10
KJV
36+ And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
The bullet that “killed” Jesus was that which was supplied by His own friend! Judas’ information helped load an empty gun that His enemies carried.
The threats, insults etc of His enemies were empty noises, lacking the power to kill Him! It was what Judas told them that filled their guns to shoot Him.
Judas knew where Jesus would be and at what time, an itinerary that was private and known only to a few This he revealed to the enemy. Indeed it is only your trusted ones who know you!
When we read what Jesus said we hardly feel how he felt, until it is done to us. It was with pain that he spoke those words. He was human just like us.
I gave thoughts again to the verse as it was read this morning and tried to apply it to the situations and many predicaments that have befallen me before. Nothing is more painful than to be sold by a trusted friend.
But such is life, be careful of those you trust they are the very ones who will give you away.
