The Menace and Havoc Of Human Error.

Genesis 16:1-2

NIV

[1] Now Sarai, Abram's wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave named Hagar; [2] so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said.

The expression “ human error “ is a “pregnant” expression or an umbrella term that covers almost every mistake made by man. What is of great worry and concern is the consequences that emanate from them

The Middle East conflict that has raged throughout the centuries with no end in sight is one such consequence of “ human error “.

At the root of every challenge we face in life is “human error.” Many road accidents, leading to deaths and injuries, have human error as their root cause, expressed in various forms.

But what is human error?  It can only be defined by these words: misjudgment, miscalculation, haste, impatience, indiscipline, disobedience, anger, envy, jealousy, greed, selfishness, etc. A tall list that time would not allow.

Almost Everyman born of a woman has had his/her share of “ human error “! Almost everything that has gone wrong with Man is a result of human error!

For example, Death entered the world as a result of “ human error “. Grandpa Adam made a mistake when he ate the forbidden fruit. Grandma Eve made the mistake when she gave Audience to the devil something she should not have done.

In the case of Abraham and Sarai, it was impatience, which is a human error! What about Moses , He could not enter the Promised Land but saw it only from afar because of human error -anger!

What about Cain-and Abel?Human error of envy What about David and Bathsheba? Human error of lack of self-control! What about Paul and Barnabas, what led to their split? Human errors of unforgiveness, anger, nepotism etc.

The list of “ what about “ is a tall one; you can add yours to it. What is it that has brought suffering to you, is it not misjudgment, impatience, envy, hidden jealousy etc?

Yes, we are all one way or the other victims of human error! No one is exempt not even men of God, both past or present, each has his share of the consequences emanating from human error. Do a critical study of the lives of the men listed (except Jesus ) in the scriptures and you’ll be surprised at the human errors you’ll find.

But can this “deadly disease” called “ human error “ be eradicated? The answer is simply no; it can only be “tamed”! Yes, this is true. Read the confession of one of the most gifted of God’s men, Solomon

1 Kings 8

KJV

46+ If they sin against thee, (for there is no man that sinneth not,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near;

Did you read that ( there is no man that sinneth not)?   Read it again

1 Kings 8:46

NIV

[46] “When they sin against you---for there is no one who does not sin---and you become angry with them and give them over to their enemies, who take them captive to their own lands, far away or near;

Hear him again

Proverbs 20

KJV

9+ Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?

Ecclesiastes 7

KJV

20+ For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

Solomon was as honest as the daylight , he knew firsthand what Paul summarised in these words ;

Romans 3

KJV

23+ For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Is it Solomon alone who made these admissions? Hear James also ;

James 3

KJV

2+ For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

James 3:2

NIV

[2] We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.

Oh, what about  St. John the Divine? Hear him;

1 John 1

KJV

8+ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1 John 1

KJV

10+ If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Oh, need I say more? Every sin is “ human error “Anything that has gone wrong in our lives be it spiritual or physical is a result of “ human error “None of us is immune.

The challenge therefore is how to bring this “disease” under control since it can not be eradicated! It is this exercise we call “ training in righteousness “

Training in “ righteousness “ is an attempt/effort at equipping oneself with the “tools and knowledge” on how to live! We do using as a training manual the Bible. Read what Paul said about this exercise and the manual

2 Timothy 3:16-17

NIV

[16] All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, [17] so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

He even commended a young man who was enrolled in this course at an early age , read what he said about this young man

2 Timothy 3:14-15

NIV

[14] But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, [15] and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

Timothy enrolled in level 100 and started taking the course at an early stage in life. No wonder he graduated first class and had good commendation

Read it ;

Acts 16:1-2

NIV

[1] Paul came to Derbe and then to Lystra, where a disciple named Timothy lived, whose mother was Jewish and a believer but whose father was a Greek. [2] The believers at Lystra and Iconium spoke well of him.

Dearly beloved, we all suffer from the consequences of the disease   “ Human Error” the more the “ error “ the worse our lives are, the lesser the better. But it can only be less if we take the course “ training in righteousness “ seriously.

Maturity. is a step we must climb one can not run or jump over these steps.! There is always the “ add unto “ as Peter said ;

2 Peter 1:5,8,10-11

NIV

[5] For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; [8] For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

[10] Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble,

[11] and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Dearly beloved, work hard to bring your “human error” index low. It is possible! We are all “works in progress” none is fully complete.
