The Cost Of Naivety: A Personal Confession

( Part 1)

Psalms 5

KJV

9+ For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

For some time now I’ve had some close encounters with friends who kept asking me similar questions! I don’t know why.

I ask myself, is it because they think I look like someone who doesn’t have a problem, or that I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth? Surely the external evidence is there to show to the contrary.

Today, there are several spoons to choose from: gold, silver, copper, bronze, and wooden. Growing up the latter ( wooden ) is used to serve salad dishes. I was not born with any of these in my mouth

Is it not written,

1 Corinthians 1

KJV

27+ But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29+ That no flesh should glory in his presence.

Such was what unfolded before the eye of Solomon that he penned his observations for posterity to take note.  Read it

Ecclesiastes 9

KJV

11+ I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Yes, “ time and chance “ which translates into being “ the right person ( regardless of your birth /status) at the right place and at the right time “This is all that there is when it comes to anyone God intend to bless!  Place yoursrif where the beam of light will shine on you.

The world is full of evidence to confirm, support and substantiate the truth expressed by Solomon! Time and chance. ! Even you are a perfect example, time and chance lifted you to where you stand today. ! It is not your birth, lineage, status, family name, etc but “ time and chance “.

But what is the question that many have asked of me? Simple, Do I have any regrets in life? You heard it? Let me repeat it! Do I have any regrets?

Question number two “ If you were to start all over again are there things you’ll not do? Or even if you will will you do them differently? “Etc.

Beloved who will not admit that he/she has no regrets? To say you don’t have any is to say “ I am a cork floating on a river, directionless and clueless wherever the wind blows me that is where I go “.  Yes there are many in this category in life.

A wise man once put it like this “If you don’t know where you are going, any road you take will lead you there “. Which statement is true as reflected in the lives of millions of people?

A clueless, purposeless and directionless person has no regrets! Does this describe you? Well, personally you may not know so ask a friend to candidly examine and evaluate your life.

Before I conclude this first part let me acknowledge that whatever we call regrets are part of the Divine training process! They were meant to divinely test our resolve and state of maturity.

Paul made this clear when he said ;

Romans 8

KJV

28+ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

And “ all things “ mean all things “but being human some of these “ all things “ do cause or at most lead to regrets and we can not pretend that there are none!

Flesh and blood have regrets. Do not deceive yourself.
