The Beauty Of Friendship : A Discovery

By John Tamakloe

The Beauty Of Friendship: A Discovery.

2 John 1

KJV

12+ Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

(The elder unto the elect lady and her children, a family )

3 John 1

KJV

13+ I had many things to write, but I will not with ink and pen write unto thee:

14 But I trust I shall shortly see thee, and we shall speak face to face. Peace be to thee. Our friends salute thee. Greet the friends by name.

(To Gaius )

I took a few minutes to read through the two letters (2nd/3rd) of the Apostle John and found something of human interest, friendship; which I share with you

Like all of us, the Apostle John enjoyed the company of friends! These two letters, as indicated in their introductory and closing remarks, were written to two of his friends. One was a lady and her family, the other a gentleman named Gaius!

He has been corresponding with them through what we may call today a WhatsApp chat; but it got to a point where he felt it was necessary to visit them so they can sit, chat, eat and laugh!

What a thought! What a decision!

Beloved, has it ever occurred to you to visit the friend(s) you’ve only been chatting with over the years. ? At least to enjoy a “face-to-face “ fellowship? To recall the good old days, the school days, the village adventures, tell tolis etc! Just a look into each other's eyes is enough, a handshake and an embrace /hug mean a lot!

The Apostle John was human just like any of us. He longed for a personal touch instead of the impersonal ( texts messages, forwarding, forwarding, phone calls)!

I was touched by what I observed about the Apostle and began thinking of how I can put this into practice. That was when your thought came to mind that I should visit you! We've been chatting through WhatsApp only!

If only we can visit each other occasionally instead of the WhatsApp chats what a joy and happy moments we shall experience. We shall be revived not only emotionally but also spiritually!

Presently everyone is “busy” with something that is impersonal ( work) which brings no joy except money, and money can not buy genuine love or friendship which also explains why though we have the money we have no genuine friends!

(At least this is how I see it I may be wrong!)

The Apostle John took time off writing (work) to visit, eat, chat and laugh with friends; so please expect my visit very soon!

If you believe that the Apostle John took the right steps then do the same! Take time off your busy schedules and visit a friend (a genuine one) and enjoy each other’s company for at least two hours!

This is what I took away after rereading the Apostle John’s letters! Very Interesting!
