Repercussions: Do You Know?
Luke 6
KJV
38+ Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
The above-cited verse is commonly read to make the point that when we give we get more, but do you know that the same principle applies to the evil we do?
Yes, “the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Some call it “Khama” I don’t know who this “Khama “ is but I know that to every action there is a reaction!
The Bible confirms this when it states “ whatsoever a man sows the same shall he reap” which is an eternal law, eternal truth and an eternal warning! Yes!
Good receives good, in the same spirit evil receives evil in return. If the evil we do to others ( unless we repent and ask for forgiveness) do not receive its equivalent then the scriptures are not true. God forbid this to be so!
There are several examples in the Bible of individuals and nations receiving “ just payments “ for both the good and evil they did to others.
What is of great importance to note is that payments for either good or evil done come from God and not man. It is not in us to take revenge or bless anyone for either the good or evil done to us. It is in the hands of God. It is He who initiates.
Here is where we have the challenge, as we try to take the “ law” into our hands ;
Proverbs 20
KJV
22+ Say not thou, I will recompense evil; but wait on the Lord, and he shall save thee.
Proverbs 24
KJV
29+ Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
There have been several painful instances where a recipient of good chooses to reward the benefactor with evil. Under the circumstances, the benefactor may feel justified to act, but there is this restraining order; read
Romans 12
KJV
19+ Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 5
KJV
15+ See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
1 Peter 3
KJV
9+ Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
Despite these admonitions, the fellowship is bedevilled with “hard nuts” unrepentant believers who are unwilling to let go! To them, it is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. They wait patiently till they get the chance or opportunity.
Until they’ve.” cursed and or spread false news, rumours etc, about you, thus destroying your name and reputation they’ll never rest “. Yes.
The psalmist Of Old expressed his trust in God to act on his behalf; though it sounds like a frustrated cry! Hear him.
Psalms 94
KJV
1+ O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.
Yes, it takes time but surely God will avenge!
Finally a warning to those who rewardeth good done them with evil. Read it,
Proverbs 17
KJV
13+ Whoso rewardeth evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
So, yes good or evil done receives equivalent payments, so watch your ways who knows perhaps what you are going through today may be payments for either.
