Of A Truth
Proverbs 12
KJV
19+ The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.
Going through a busy land in the market a woman met me and said to me “You told us” and walked away. A strange experience and a statement which made me chase after her to seek a meaning.
Apparently, she heard me speak words of caution and wisdom to an audience of which she was a part. Upon further inquiries, she repeated what I said that day and went on to give instances when these manifested themselves!
Was I a prophet? Was I prophesying? Not at all the English have a proverb” coming events cast their shadows”. The twi say “ ensû bè tô a nfraà ma diñ kañ “ to wit “ before the rain falls, it is preceded by the wind “ The intensity or otherwise of the wind foretells the volume or intensity of the rainfall!
Any man with a discerning eye and mind can foretell consequences! Some of these are from either intuition, experience or the study, knowledge and understanding the spirit of the time. Interestingly this science is what most modern day “ prophets “ have mastered.
The lies that some tell about you just so they win favour, recognition, positions etc, will not stand the test of time! Time will reveal and expose them! Yes, it is only a matter of time. Whatever is “ covered through lies “ shall be uncovered
This is exactly what the proverb writer is saying
Proverbs 12:19 NIV
[19] Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
When truth laces up its boots lies or deceptions can not go further anymore! It is only a matter of time No matter how long it takes you will be vindicated.
Yes, damage will be done to your name, image and reputation but posterity will uphold and proclaim you a saint, because you said it and it came to pass. For temporal pleasure , fame , office, position etc some have lied about you. Their days are numbered.
Look around you and you’ll see many who were once rejected, lied and evil spoken of; today they are saints! Their names are hallowed and engraved on granite stones. So will yours be so do not give up or yield to the pressures of lies and liars.
Yes, it may not be in your lifetime but posthumously you’ll be vindicated. Yes,
Proverbs 12:19
NIV
[19] Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.
What I took away from my brief encounter with a strange woman in the marketplace!
Be inspired and motivated to stand for that which is right. You’ll suffer the emotional pain for a while, yes but you’ll be vindicated. I’ve seen it before and can hereby testify that it is true.
