My Visit To The Cemetery: Matters Arising!

The Certainty Of God’s Word: My Visit To The Cemetery

Genesis 3

KJV

19+ In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Recently I visited a cemetery and after performing the burial activity, I waited for a while to take a closer look at the individual graves scattered about. Of interest to me are the dates written on them. A few graves caught my attention these were graves with old dates.

The dates written on these tombs indicate that those buried underneath the slabs have been there for over a hundred years! Amazing sight to see.

I stood still and asked what the conditions of the bodies buried under the concrete slabs were. It is likely their flesh is turned to earth and so also may their bones be.

While I walked away the truth that hit me hard in the face is what God said “” For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” We came from the earth and shall return to it.

Beloved, everything came from the earth and shall return to the same ! You name it, whatever we have was taken from the earth ! As an example , the Food we eat was from the earth after we eat and ease ourselves they go back to the earth.

Precious items such as necklaces, earrings, clothing, automobiles etc are all products from materials buried in the earth. We dug them up in their natural forms, refined them and turned them into what we need. They shall all return to the earth with time!

 All these confirm what Paul said;

1 Timothy 6

KJV

7+ For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.

Nothing we have belongs to us, they belong to the earth, and the earth belongs to God. So everything shall return to the earth and through that to God who created it. This is what is meant when we say God owns everything.

We are therefore “tenants” of the earth, everything is on rent. When our tenancy expires so goes everything!

Here is what my visit to the cemetery reminded me of, which I share with you! Dust I am and unto dust I shall return. Everything I have shall return to the earth; and so will yours be.  The next time you visit a cemetery take time to walk around and read the dates on tombs.

So let us be wise regarding how we use whatever we  have, knowing that one day we shall give them back to the Owner. Enjoy them though.
