Leave Nothing Unprotected.

Nahum 2

KJV

1+ He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.

Along the route I follow every morning during my walks is a small vegetable garden owned by the caretaker of a building along my route.

I do admire the beauty of the garden as it has several vegetables and I wish I could have a similar garden, but as you know “ if wishes were horses”  complete the sentence !!!

What struck me and influenced this article was what I saw lately: the garden had overgrown with weeds, and it set me wondering why something of great value and beauty is left to rot.

Though there may be reasons unknown to me, one thing that sums it up is “ neglect” and as I moved away the picture of a once beautiful garden now turned weedy and unfruitful saddened and troubled me.

I then began to think of it from the spiritual point and it dawned on me that similar circumstances do befall us. Due to neglect we drift from our spiritual moorings and become unfit for purpose.

Unspiritual “weeds” grow to occupy a once spiritually fertile mind which renders us unfit; these happen when we neglect to pay attention to our minds. When we no longer cultivate the soil ( mind)!

I then remembered the words of a hymn “Soldiers of Christ arise” a line reads ;

“3 Leave no unguarded place,

no weakness of the soul;

take every virtue, every grace,

and fortify the whole.

That, having all things done

and all your conflicts past,

ye may o'ercome thro' Christ alone and stand complete at last.”

Let us leave no place unguarded, especially our minds, this is wise advice that we must heed. Read at least a verse of scripture every day.

Pay attention to your “garden” or else it will be overtaken by weeds.

A lesson I learnt from what I saw that I’d like to share with you!
