Know Your Way!
Proverbs 14
KJV
12+ There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Nowhere is this warning relevant and true than when you are travelling! Anyone who has driven on a newly constructed road which has not yet been commissioned will tell you how true the above warning is.
Here we are travelling to a town (I’ll not mention) and wanting to get there early we took a road that seems less occupied only to get to a point where there was a deep valley.
What was most worrying was that we had driven almost two hours from the main road so we had to turn round making a four-hour waste.
So yes,
Proverbs 14
KJV
12+ There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
In our case it was not only time that we wasted but also fuel which affected our budget thus making our trip unenjoyable.
But how did we get to this stage? We ignored shouts from people along the way who were trying to warn us! Some we heard but thought they were admiring our car! Can you imagine!
Is this not how we live our lives? We pay no attention to warnings, even when we are flagged down we think of alternative ways to do whatever we want to do.
We pick, adopt and practice lifestyles that affect and impact us negatively but who will say and we will listen!
Life is likened to a race how you start and how you end are very important!
Mistakes are very common. We all make them so to avoid or minimise mistakes study/observe the life of those ahead of you. Some have ended up in the “ scrapyard “ others are still on the road.
To avoid life’s “scrapyard” learn how to undertake maintenance by taking stock regularly! If a lifestyle is not yielding positive returns you’ll know, so you change it for another. Keep trying, asking, observing etc you’ll find one that is better.
For example, if you are in a group that is not adding any positive value to your life why stay in it? If you are eating a food that is impacting negatively on your health why continue eating it?
Just because it is cheap does but justify eating it. The same applies to groups that we are part of, the fact that they are friends/classmates etc does not justify staying in it if it is impacting negatively on you.
Proverbs 12
KJV
15+ The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
Consult with people more knowledgeable than you on matters of importance to your progress in life. Not just anybody, be wise in your choice!
It was my experience that brought back to mind the verse of scripture you’ve read. Learn to listen to warnings and advices while on this journey.
We thought the road we took was good and would lead us to our destination only to turn back to start all over again. Wasting both time and fuel!
