Justify Your Inclusion

By John Tamakloe

Justify Your Inclusion

Matthew 22

KJV

11+ And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

12+ And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

All received the invitation but one was thrown out. The question the king asked is “Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment?”

As the Black Stars prepare for the World Cup many players will be invited to camp, the purpose is to select those worthy to represent the country. Anyone invited knows that the invitation does not mean he is qualified or selected. It is an opportunity to justify his inclusion.

The same applies to us, our call through our obedience to the Gospel is a call-up exercise. It is up to us to justify our inclusion as Peter once admonished

2 Peter 1

KJV

10+ Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

Made your “calling and election sure”. Your calling is one thing and your election is another something many of us in the church have misunderstood! They think being “called up” ( baptised) is all that it takes to be included. The man in the story was “ called up “ invitation was extended to him, but he thought that was all that was required. He got there only to the disqualified. Paul sounded the same warning ;

1 Corinthians 10

KJV

12+ Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Dear reader, be careful you don’t get to the wedding only to be denied entry. Even if you find your way in by favouritism ( though there will be none!) you’ll still be identified and walked out. What we are going through today in the church is called the “justify your inclusion” period. So play and play well else you’ll be sent back.
