Indeed, Where Are They?

Luke 17

KJV

17+ And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

Reflecting on the past and comparing it with present developments and experiences this episode and question reminded me of a great Truth! It is a question that people ask when they are going through extreme challenges and need help!

Though this is not the circumstance that made Jesus ask the question yet in our day and time it is asked in times of adversity! A time and circumstance in which you stretch your hands but there is no one to hold them.

That ingratitude is as old as humanity is true. It began with the first humans God placed in a free garden. Instead of being grateful through obedience, they showed ingratitude through disobedience.

A deep lesson I learnt by observing how God reacted to the ingratitude of Adam and Eve is this: He tolerated them. Though He drove them out this was a lesser evil , He could have destroyed and replaced them!

Like all humans, He  felt the pain of ingratitude, similar to what Jesus experienced as expressed in his question “Where are the nine ?”

Many today continue to ask the same question “Where are the nine ?” Many have forgotten those who brought them to where they are today, not only this but they have also added more pain by denouncing and speaking ill of them!

Beloved let us not be disappointed if the “ nine” do not remember us, for such is the world they did it to the Master, they will do the same to you.

So, should we stop doing good? Not at all because we are under command to do so.

Galatians 6

KJV

9+ And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

10+ As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

Beloved, here is what you should know and remember every day of your life. Do good because it is a duty, this way you’ll maintain your sanity and not be overcomed by the pain inflicted by ungrateful people!

As you have the opportunity, do good unto all men without expecting anything. See doing good as a duty! Duty is an obligation, a must and not a choice or option.

Pray always for strength to manage and control your emotions! Yes, you are human and subject to the emotional distress that accompanies ingratitude!

Those who eat at your table will one  Day turn against you , be prepared for this so you are not taken by surprise.

Yes! Where are the nine?
