He Sealed My Pardon With His Blood!

By John Tamakloe

He Sealed My Pardon With His Blood!

1 Corinthians 15:3

NIV

[3] For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

This morning at service I joined to sing the hymn “ Man of Sorrows” while singing I was struck by these words of the hymn-writer “  he sealed my pardon with his blood”. I paused to think and reflect on these words, which meant a lot to me. I share this with you.

From the Apostle Paul’s perspective, the most important thing we should remember in Christianity is “ he sealed our pardon with his blood”. This he expressed in these words;

1 Corinthians 15:3

NIV

[3] For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

“He died for our sins” is the same as saying “ he sealed our pardon with his blood”.

Which again is similar to another aspect of his life, he ( Paul) wrote about;

2 Corinthians 8:9

NIV

[9] For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

Not only did he seal our pardon with his blood but he also made himself poor to make us rich. This is love.

Again we are told he made himself of “ no reputation” he gave up his honor so that we may be honoured. It is for these reasons that I owe Him my life and my everything! If it had not been for the sacrifices he made I would have been nothing. Paul knew this hence he said ;

Galatians 6:14

NIV

[14] May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

If any will boast, beloved let him boast in the One “ who sealed his pardon with his blood! “. Who also became poor to make him rich!

Yes, He took my sins and my sorrows, He made them His very own. Read how another hymn-writer expressed his feelings;

I stand amazed in the presence

  Of Jesus the Nazarene,

And wonder how He could love me,

  A sinner condemned, unclean.

(How marvelous! How wonderful!

  And my song shall ever be:

How marvelous! How wonderful!

    Is my Savior’s love for me!)

2

For me, it was in the garden,

  He prayed: “Not my will, but Thine.”

He had no tears for His own griefs,

  But sweat-drops of blood for mine.

3

In pity angels beheld Him,

  And came from the world of light

To strengthen Him in the sorrows

  He bore for my soul that night.

4

He took my sins and my sorrows,

  He made them His very own;

He bore the burden to Calv’ry,

  And suffered, and died alone.

5

When with the ransomed in glory

  His face I at last shall see,

’Twill be my joy through the ages

  To sing of His love for me.

I owe everything to Him, my thoughts as I meditate on the phrase “He sealed my pardon with His blood”.
