Have You Ever Asked Why?
1 Corinthians 1
KJV
10+ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Ever since I became a member of the Body of Christ , this passage has always been taught and made the primary goal if not THE agenda that we must work to achieve, both within and without.
It was made part of the matching orders of the Restoration , Movement, to unite Christendom!
Within our own fellowship, for many years now, we’ve made efforts at uniting the fellowship, all without success.
I’ve attended, participated etc in many meetings, lectureships, workshops etc, all with one agenda - The Unity of The Fellowship!
All these have not yielded the desired result- i.e., unity of the fellowship! After many years of prayerful thought and careful observations this in simple language is what I came to know as the reason why unity has eluded us.
Brethren, it is clear that our disunity benefits some people, ( whatever benefits there are, I leave it to you to find out) so they will do everything possible to kick against any effort to unite.
Beloved, it is not for nothing that some are targets of vilification; it is obvious that if they are allowed to succeed, the benefits will stop!
This is why we must stand our ground and remain steadfast and committed to whatever we believe is the Truth!
As it is in the denominational world even so it is with the fellowship of the churches of Christ. Disunity results in competition, whereas unity results in collaboration!
Those who benefit from disunity believe in competition, creating “ empires” and seeking “fame and popularity “. Collaboration and cooperation do not make anyone popular or famous, so it is preferred.
I hope you now see and understand why we are unable to unite, and the biblical command you’ve read above remains unfulfilled!
Disunity benefits some for which reason they’ll not favour any effort to unite the fellowship!
My thoughts and observations.
