Guard Your Entrances!
1 John 2
KJV
16+ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
In recent times many buildings looked like fortresses, with high walls, electric fences and cctv cameras etc at entrances visitors have to ring the entrance bell and identify themselves before being allowed to enter.
The purpose is to ward off undesirables and social nuisances Every man has become security-conscious and that is commendable! One would have wished the same to be extended to the person, our personal safety and security!
Unfortunately these we have neglected which have been a source and cause of many a problem that has engulfed us.
Do you know that there are four (4) main entrances ( physically ) to every human being? These are the eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Yes! Three ( ears, eyes and nose ) are inward entrances one ( mouth, tongue, ) is outward bound, but occasionally can be an inward bound entrance.
Every second these entrances received several knocks seeking permission to either enter or go out.
Except for the mouth, the eyes see many things every second, all attractive, luring etc wanting to be part of ( visit ) us. If the mind allows, it proceeds The same happens with the ears, and the nose!
Many things are being said true, false, gossip, rumour, lies, etc; and the ears pick all, how the mind processes them is the challenge! What guard /barrier we erect at the entrances determines the direction our lives go.
All four (4) entrances to our mind are always under siege so guard these entrances. Many who have left them unattended to are in serious trouble with their lives. The evidence is there for all to see.
Read a few recommendations and be guided;
Proverbs 21
KJV
23+ Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
Proverbs 13
KJV
3+ He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.
Proverbs 12
KJV
13+ The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
Job 29
KJV
11 When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:
Job 34
KJV
3+ For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.
Proverbs 15
KJV
31+ The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.
Set a guard over your mouth to regulate what goes out from it.
Set a guard over your ears, to regulate what comes through them
Set a guard over your eyes to regulate what it focuses on!
Set a guard over your nose to regulate /discern the scent it breathes!
These are not child’s play they require diligence and constant monitoring! Erect barriers to guard their entrances, this will guarantee you peaceful living, though occasionally you’ll make mistakes ( lower guards ) it will not affect much.
My observations as I went for a walk this morning! High walls, electric fences and entrance bells! All meant to keep away undesirables! Do something similar to yourself. Personal safety guard your eyes, mouth, ears and nose.
