Fellowship: The Reason/Purpose  Of Our Gathering

Psalms 122

KJV

1+ I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.

Micah 4

KJV

2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

Zechariah 8

KJV

21+ And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts: I will go also.

All the verses listed above have one theme running through them- the delight in fellowship with others in the House of God.

Every Sunday morning I see many trooping to one place or the other dressed elegantly with joy beaming on their faces both Adults and children alike.

Indeed everybody looks up to Sunday, those who are best served on Sundays are the aged, shut-ins, and all who are unable to get out of their homes.

All those whose activities confine them to one place look forward to this Day, as it is the only day they can get out of their doldrums—traders, shopkeepers, dressmakers, hairdressers, fitters, office workers.

Sunday indeed is a Day Of freedom, liberation, joy and happiness! Not only spiritually but equally physically.

It is the Day everyone becomes him/herself as they link up with others to enjoy each other’s company, sing together, greet, hug or embrace a relaxing atmosphere that restores,  refreshes and rejuvenates.

Can you imagine life without a Sunday? Let us thank God for giving us a day like this, and enjoy it to the fullest by participating in every activity.

To miss the Sunday gathering is to miss the best time in life. This explains why the psalmist said

Psalms 122

KJV

1+ I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.

If you don’t attend Sunday’s gatherings, then you don’t know what you are missing! You should go every Sunday to recharge spiritually, not forgetting the weekday daily top-ups through devotions and meditations.

A thought.
