Emotion: Mankind‘s Biggest Subtle Enemy

25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath's sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.
You’ve probably read or been told this sad incident in biblical history! Hardly has it occurred to you that in many ways you’ve re-enacted this same incident.
All who read this account are quick to judge and condemn the king but hardly do they consider what led to his action and ask the question do I face similar situations today!
Of importance to us is the cause, what drove the king to make such a promise? We are told ( read it)
Mark 6:21-23

[21] Finally the opportune time came. On his birthday Herod gave a banquet for his high officials and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.
[22] When the daughter of Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests. The king said to the girl, “Ask me for anything you want, and I'll give it to you.”
[23] And he promised her with an oath, “Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom.”
(A promise must be kept so the King has to keep his promise) But what drove him to make such a promise?

The King’s emotions were touched so his decision was based on emotions. This is what this writeup is all about EMOTIONS!
Our biggest subtle enemy is Emotion.! Almost everything we do is influenced and guided by Emotion! He who can control his/her emotions is a winner.
The king said to the girl, “Ask me for anything you want, and I'll give it to you.”
Why would he say this if not influenced by his emotions? Uncontrolled emotions are the source of the sins we commit!
Love, envy, hate, jealousy, gossip, passion, insult, annoyance, etc are all products of emotion! It is these that determine what we do! Emotions drive us to love, hate, envy etc people!
Manage your emotions!
The opposite of emotion is reason, intellect, factual etc unfortunately these many can not apply hence the awkward situations they find themselves in!
The strength of evil is emotion, control or manage your emotions and you’ll be an overcomer. Pause and think through what you’ve read.
When you are happy ( emotion) make no promise. When you are angry ( emotion) say or do nothing. When insulted ( emotion) do not respond.
Our greatest subtle enemy is emotion, manage, control or cage it.
