Exodus 3

KJV

7+ And the Lord said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;

Yes sorrows, sufferings and afflictions are human conditions that break us down , they bring us to the level where hopelessness is an inadequate word to describe the conditions we find ourselves in

And yet these very conditions are the ones that direct the attention and focus of Divine eyes to us. The case of Israel in Egypt is an example of what suffering, affliction and sorrow do.

Read it

Exodus 3:7-9

NIV

[7] The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.

[8] So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey---the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.

[9] And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them.

So whereas we may see and feel sorrow , affliction and suffering as negatives, God sees it as an opportunity to demonstrate His power, love and concern for us.

So express your sorrow, affliction and suffering do not attempt to hide them, live them. Israel sometimes chooses to wear sackcloth, to demonstrate the state of affairs in their lives!

Lamentations 2

KJV

10+ The elders of the daughter of Zion sit upon the ground, and keep silence: they have cast up dust upon their heads; they have girded themselves with sackcloth: the virgins of Jerusalem hang down their heads to the ground.

Help comes readily and quickly to the sorrowful and afflicted when they live and demonstrate their condition. Just look at the bereaved in our society , when they are clad in black do we not organise to help them?

Even so, God rises to our defence and deliverance when we demonstrate and display our sorrow, affliction and suffering. So do not hide or pretend , project your sorrow let all men see the level of affliction you are in.

The twi proverb says it well “ wò toñ wó yarèa enà wò nyà ehò edurô ! To wit “Publicise your illness and you’ll get its remedy”. How sad! Many are destitute and are in need yet they pretend to have!

I’ll rather dress, walk, eat etc to demonstrate my state of need than to pretend all is well with me.

So, come before God with your sorrow, affliction and suffering, as He did to Israel He will send you a Deliverer.

A thought to share.
","2026-08-08T14:30:12.536Z",1786199576498]
