Constancy And Consistency: A Must

Constancy And Consistency: A Must

Hebrews 3

KJV

13+ But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Some have asked why we preach and teach the Word at every assembling of the saints, why we encourage members to read portions of the scriptures privately every day, why we should include portions of the scriptures in letters, brochures ( funeral, weddings etc) etc to friends

The reason is what you’ve just read; reread it!

Hebrews 3

KJV

12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

13+ But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Dear reader, you’ll agree that it is easy to forget things we don’t use regularly. Just remember how you struggled to remember a name, a word, a dialect, etc things you knew off hand before. Yes, the effect of irregular use!

For example in the 70s, when I lived and worked in Tamale I could speak and express myself in Dagbani, however after leaving the area for many years I  lost control and command of the dialect. Sad.

Constancy and consistency are the keys to remembering everything we know. In our case, the Hebrew writer says our failure to  remind ourselves of the Word of God will lead us into a spiritual disaster

The word of God therefore is the believer's vaccine we must take a dose each day to keep the disease called “sin “ from attacking our souls. Failure to do this opens us up to sin to knock us down!

Read how the Hebrew writer puts it “exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.”

A dose a day of the Word does wonders spiritually! Every Sunday what we receive from the pulpit is a “booster dose” designed to keep our immune levels high throughout the week!

Follow this recommended approach to get the most from the spiritual vaccine, the Word of God!

To be “sin-free” take a dose of the Word of God daily preferably before breakfast; the first thing after waking up from bed. Do it on an empty mind, when the mind is fresh and free from worry, stress etc

It is also recommended that for best results, after taking the vaccine you sit for a few minutes to let it settle in your mind! ( meditate) !

Do this at a time when there is no noise to cause distraction, pick no calls make no calls, read no text messages! These if done before taking the vaccine will render it ineffective as they distort the state of the mind.

To help enrich the vaccine’s effect on the heart /mind, hum or sing a song /hymn this is a choice and not a rule. After which pause and simply say “ Thank You Lord for yet another Day !” Be constant and consistent and you’ll never regret! Do it now!
