As A Bird Wanders, So Is Man!

By John Tamakloe

As A Bird, So Is An Unprincipled Man

Proverbs 27

KJV

8+ As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place.

The image drawn by the above scripture should be looked at closely. When a bird wanders from its nest what happens to it? The answer is obvious it gets caught and finds itself in a soup pot!

The same happens to a man who wanders from his place except that he does not get “killed “ but instead is disrespected, disorganized and disoriented.

To “wander from one’s place” is to depart from established norms and principles! This unfortunately is the challenge we face today! Principle-less

We have ruined everything that we came to meet as a generation. We have departed from the very norms and principles that held us together as one people. In the name of Democracy, we have divided our people into camps! To some, it is a do-or-die game!

I remember during one election time I was driving to Kumasi to visit my children at the Knust, and on reaching Nkawkaw I was greeted by a huge oversized towering billboard with the inscription “ XX X STRONGHOLD” a no-go area for others.

As has been proven over time it is this sycophantic, undiscerning and unprincipled approach to life that has brought us to where we are today.  The challenge posed by this stronghold mentality.

Yes if a bird wanders from its nest it finds itself in a soup pot, the same happens to any person or people when they deviate from established norms and principles! They become ungovernable!

Personally, an unprincipled life is not worth living! Principles serve as moral compasses to guide, and as lights that shine to direct towards a successful end.

No wonder the psalmist says;

Psalms 119

KJV

105+ NUN.Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

And the proverb writer;

Proverbs 6

KJV

23+ For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:
