","are-we-on-the-same-page","\u003Cp>Are We On The Same Page? \u003C/p>\u003Cp>Amos 3\u003C/p>\u003Cp>KJV\u003C/p>\u003Cp>3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?\u003C/p>\u003Cp>\u003Cbr>Recent developments within the religious fraternity in Ghana are worrying and have created a deep sense of instability and fear!   \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>Ghana as a country is religious as several religions are operating and living side by side with each other; this is our unique culture which is the envy of other countries within the sub-region  \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>Ours is called “ religious pluralism “ yet despite our differences we have coexisted with each other in the spirit of tolerance! \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>In fact, tolerance itself is a virtue exhibited only by the mature! What this means is that Ghanaian religionists are mature, though they are not on the same page yet they know how to coexist in peace \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>The most beautiful verse that comes to mind is;   \u003C/p>\u003Cp>Romans 12\u003C/p>\u003Cp>KJV\u003C/p>\u003Cp>18+ If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.\u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>The Christian/Muslim relationship in Ghana has been anchored on the above scripture! What the above scripture simply means is that we should learn to tolerate! \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>“If it be possible “ is an expression denoting “ situation, circumstance etc” which means we must each ( Christian/Muslim) create the situation, circumstance, the environment, that will augur well for peaceful coexistence \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>We don’t have to agree on everything before we can coexist peacefully with one another; for example, we don’t have separate Christian /Muslim market we all sell /buy from the same market!\u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>We attend the same schools, the same hospitals, live in the same communities, work in the same offices etc  What separates us is our faith and beliefs  etc which are spiritual! Important as these are they are matters of choice! \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>There have been instances in which both Faiths have united to push a common agenda; the case of the LGBT bill quickly comes to mind, and another is the “ anti-galamsey” crusade! \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>On matters of propagating each faith, no one forbids any from doing so , the 1992 constitution which is the Law of the Land encourages the freedom of association , expression and the practice of faith. \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>Conversion to any of these Faith’s is a matter of choice, a person’s personal decision based on what he/she knows and believes, and is devoid of any coercion ! I am an example of this!! \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>In a pluralistic society, ideas ( beliefs, faiths) are allowed to compete for acceptance! The same  pertain in any religious pluralistic society, Ghana is no exception . \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>What is of great concern and worry to all is how these “ ideas “ ( “beliefs”) are put forth! \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>In preaching or propagating any Faith there are standards/ ethics etc to be upheld, “hitting below the belt” as it were is not allowed or encouraged!   One can “contend for the faith, without being contentious”!  This is a mastery act which unfortunately is not known to the majority! \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>Finally, because  religion is an ideology if not properly taught and understood the tendency to produce fanatics is very high. Which unfortunately is what we have on our hands, both Christian /Muslim adherents ! \u003C/p>\u003Cp> \u003C/p>\u003Cp>Thoughts to share! \u003C/p>","2026-08-14T10:29:06.075Z",1786703460670]
