Almost At The Crossing!
Joshua 4
KJV
22 Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.
23+ For the Lord your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the Lord your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:
At every road crossing, we were taught as children to look to our right, then left and then right again before we move. We were told it was for our safety when we asked why we had to look to the right twice.
Today, we stand at a crossing. We have come a long way, and within a few hours, we shall set foot on an unknown, uncharted path. How we travel is of great importance hence the need to look “ right, left, right again!
We began the year with many but when we look to our “right, left and right” again ; some have fallen! We pay tribute to their gallantry and the joys and blessings they brought us.
Two rivers were crossed before Israel possessed her possession, this is what the above scriptures highlighted. The first was the Red Sea, the second was the Jordan!
Today being the last day of the journey that has taken us three hundred and sixty-five days we need to reflect on what has been our lot How far have we come! Our “wilderness journey” just like that of Israel has not been the best as many will attest.
There have been painful and sorrowful occasions just as there have been a few joyful moments! There have been many hurts just as there have been few healings. There have been great losses as there have been few gains!
Through all these “ups” and “downs” both His fiery and cloudy pillars have seen us through successfully! Where there is a will, there will always be a way!
Beloved, as we stand today at the banks of our “Jordan” ready to cross, let us resolve to put away all that pollutes and contaminates both the mind and the spirit.
2 Corinthians 7
KJV
1+ Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
A new beginning is about to dawn on us, unworthy as we are yet His Grace is sufficient for us. Let us acknowledge that “we are who we are because of who He is! “Let us therefore live to reflect His image through us.
He is the Light that shines through us so those in darkness can see. This is a charge He gave us!
Matthew 5:16
NIV
[16] In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Let the coming year be a year of good deeds! Let it be a year of service to humanity! Let it be a year of reconciliation among factions. Let it be a year of teamwork/spirit Let it be a year of goodwill towards all men!
. Hebrews 12:14
NIV
[14] Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. .
Identify and avoid relationships that will provoke and be vexations to your spirit! Remember, to owe no man anything except the debt of love. Do not attempt to please all men , this is an impossible task!
Do what you can, with what you have, at where you are Nothing more nothing less; it is for these you’ll give an account.
Spend today in the quietness of your heart to reflect on the past. The countdown has begun, and soon we shall by His Grace enter into the promised year.
Do not panic or be anxious, just standstill to see the salvation of the Lord!
