A Memorable Excursion!

By John Tamakloe

A Memorable Excursion

Hebrews 11

KJV

13+ These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

That we are here on an excursion is a fact that the majority have not taken note of, as a result they act as if they are here to stay for good.

I’ve always tried to remember my humble roots and beginnings by using my primary school days to make my case in most of my write-ups. I do so as a tribute to the many who taught me how to read and write. Without them, you’ll not read what you are reading from me!

After every school holiday, we were made to write a “ composition” with the topic  “ How I spend My Holiday “

Simple as it sounds but difficult to some of us! Why? Because we went nowhere, we sat here in Accra! But we were forced to write what we did anyway.

Looking back, I realized this was where and when I discovered my creative writing skills that later improved with time as I climbed the educational ladder.

I have to imagine and create an interesting scene worth sharing! Unfortunately, there will be no such creative or imaginary scenes to be written about when our “ spiritual excursion “ is over.

This is what Paul meant when he wrote ;

2 Corinthians 5

KJV

10+ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad

So my dear reader, enjoy your excursion do what you like, go where you want or wish to go! No one will write or mark your “ composition “. It is you who will write and it is God who will mark!

Whether you’ll pass or fail will depend on what you write and the Examiner-God. No elder, deacon, evangelist etc, will be asked to comment on your paper. The Examiner knows you better than they! .

None of them can influence the Examiner or the marking scheme in your favour! There it will be “ everybody for himself, God for us all”. So begin trying your hand in the way your “composition” will look like. Live in such a way as to write with no regrets.!

Remember the topic “ How I spend My years on Earth!”  We are on an excursion let us enjoy the trip!

Read how someone wrote his ;

1 Years I spent in vanity and pride,

Caring not my Lord was crucified,

Knowing not it was for me He died

On Calvary.

Chorus:

Mercy there was great, and grace was free,

Pardon there was multiplied to me,

There my burdened soul found liberty -

At Calvary.

How will you start yours? What marks do you expect? I am revising my notes, join me do so.

My take.
